Plant for Hummingbirds: A Recap from the Wildlife Jewels’ National Hummingbird Day Planting Event in Newport Beach!

Wildlife Jewels® Plant for Hummingbirds National Hummingbird Day Celebration at the Newport Beach Civic Center Park

Such an inspiring day! Thank you to everyone who joined Wildlife Jewels for our Plant for Hummingbirds National Hummingbird Day Celebration in Newport Beach. Your participation helped us plant native flowers that hummingbirds love to feed on!

On Sunday, September 8th, Wildlife Jewels® hosted a community planting event at the Newport Beach Civic Center Park, bringing together nature lovers to plant flowers that support our local hummingbird species. Our goal was not only to raise awareness about these fascinating birds but also to enhance the city’s natural beauty with vibrant flowers while promoting wildlife conservation.

Throughout the event, we planted native flowers and assortment of seeds that attract and sustain hummingbirds, shared educational information about the importance of native plants, and highlighted incredible facts about hummingbirds and the innovations inspired by them. Attendees learned about the threats these tiny birds face and ways they can help protect them. We also showcased artwork inspired by a special hummingbird, shared her story, and told the tale of a hummingbird we had the pleasure of observing in her nest.

A highlight of the event was the visit from a precious 3-week-old rescued fledging Costa's Hummingbird, brought by Anne, ifoundahummingbird.com wildlife rehabilitation. Everyone had the chance to learn about her journey and recovery story, making the day even more memorable.

Despite the heat wave, the Newport Beach community came out with enthusiasm, demonstrating their commitment to beautifying our city and supporting wildlife. The event was a joy, and we were thrilled by the positive energy and dedication of all who participated.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at the Newport Beach Civic Center to make this event possible!

We’ll soon be sharing more details about the flowers we planted, the hummingbird educational materials we presented, the precious rescued fledgling hummingbird we had the delight of seeing, and the beautiful hummingbird artwork we showcased! Stay tuned for more updates!

We look forward to seeing you at our next event!
