What is Wildlife Jewels Rescue Collective:
This group is a dedicated space for discussing wildlife in need, and fostering collaboration for prompt action. Members are encouraged to share valuable resources, discuss best practices for aiding distressed wildlife, and exchange news about wildlife rescue efforts. Our mission is to unite communities and foster collaborations among wildlife advocates, tech innovators, wildlife veterinarians, wildlife rescue organizations, NGOs, and rehabilitation groups, for quick and efficient wildlife rescue.
Situated in Corona del Mar and Solana Beach, California, our focus is supporting both local and global wildlife rescue initiatives while welcoming wildlife protection advocates worldwide.
Why “Wildlife Jewels Rescue Collective” Group:
Sadly we are living in a world where human activities are driving our precious wildlife towards extinction. With the recent surge in crisis impacting wildlife, from rising water temperatures, habitat destruction, plastic pollution, chemical pollution, wildlife cruelty, rodenticides, ocean pollution, and entanglement in fishing gear, wildlife is confronting unprecedented threats.
Over the last 20 years, our Executive Director has spotted and rescued a multitude of distressed and injured wildlife. In the last year alone, we have encountered a growing number of stranded and injured wildlife. Some of them we were able to save and find transport to wildlife rehabilitators. But many did not make it as they were spotted after hours and no one was there to help. In 2023, we spotted a sea lion on the beach suffering, his neck deeply entangled in a fishing line, what made it even more heartbreaking was when he rushed back into the ocean as rescuers arrived to capture him. This horrifying experience and many other distressed wildlife encounters have fueled our team to kick-start this group.
Within this group, we'll be sharing our wildlife rescue encounters, the lessons we've gathered, resources and technologies available to enhance knowledge and aid wildlife rescue, ideas for potential innovations and collaborations that can expedite wildlife rescue and we invite you to share yours too!
