Protecting Sea Lions at La Jolla Cove: How You Can Help

During our wildlife monitoring walk at La Jolla Cove last week, we were disturbed to spot and report two distressed sea lion pups. Since then, it has been reported that three dead pups have been found on the beach, and two others had to be rescued.

Unfortunately, the large crowds and public interference, including petting the sea lions, have likely contributed to these deaths.

To protect these majestic sea lion pups, we need rangers to monitor the sea lions and track public interference. Additionally, placing cones and signs to educate the public about the sea lion pups and the threats they face is crucial.
