Introducing Wildlife Jewels “Sweep for Wildlife” Solana Beach Community Group!

Wildlife Jewels Sweep and Learn for Wildlife walk in Solana Beach, Sunday August 25th, 2024

Introducing the Wildlife Jewels “Sweep for Wildlife™” Solana Beach Community Group: Join Us in Keeping Our Beautiful Beach Clean and Protecting Our Wildlife from Marine Debris!

On July 9th, we spotted several beautiful Western Gulls picking up charcoal and burnt wood from the sand in Solana Beach. Thanks to everyone who joined our recent community beach cleanup at Fletcher Cove Beach, we collected around 90 pounds of charcoal, burnt wood and 111 nails during our cleanup!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our Sweep for Wildlife™ Solana Beach community group! Join us in our efforts to remove marine debris, clean up our coastlines, discover local wildlife residents in Solana Beach, and learn about the impacts of marine debris on our ecosystems.

Learn more about our Sweep for Wildlife initiative and get involved! Help us protect wildlife!

A recap from our August 25th Beach Cleanup!

On Sunday, August 25th, Wildlife Jewels organized and hosted a community beach cleanup at Fletcher Cove Beach, and we're thrilled to share that our collective efforts were featured in the San Diego Union Tribune! This event was part of our Sweep and Learn for Wildlife™ program. Our focus was on picking up debris while educating the community about the threats debris poses to native wildlife and how we can all contribute to protecting our precious wildlife and preserving our beautiful coastline.

We were delighted to see the Solana Beach community come together with such enthusiasm and commitment, making a substantial impact in protecting our invaluable wildlife.

We want to extend our Thanks to everyone who joined us at Fletcher Cove Beach yesterday!

Together, we prevented wildlife from ingesting harmful items such as charcoal, nails, small plastic fragments, candy wrappers, plastic utensils, and more. Your contribution in removing these items from the beach is invaluable, as every single piece of debris poses a serious threat to our wildlife.

During our walk, we also had the pleasure of observing majestic pelicans soaring through the sky—a beautiful reminder of the wildlife we’re striving to protect.
